New Cantonese Magnet School In San Francisco
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/03/13/BAKJ16F2RE.DTL&tsp=1 I heard this on TV today. When the broadcast said that it would be a new Chinese immersion school, I immediately assumed a Mandarin school. However, this is going to be a Cantonese school. Cool! |

Toddler in San Francisco Ferry Building
We took our 19-month-old to the Ferry Building today. It wasn't our first time there. Since our kid is walking very well, he can roam with us following him without any problem. The crowd there seems cognizant of kids in the building and are pretty good at avoiding the little people amongst them. The real problem of the Ferry Building is that the public seating area is not very kid-friendly. We cannot find a high chair anywhere. We haven't been … |

More Westfield Lunch Action
We went shopping again last Saturday at Westfield San Francisco Center. After learning our lessons at Out the Door, we opted for the food court instead. We were surprised to find low chairs and tables for kids on the side. We actually sat at one of those tables as it provided the perfect height to feed our kid in the stroller. No straining of the back anymore! We knew it was a hot spot as we were surrounded by strollers … |

Driving me "Out the Door"
The Westfield Center in downtown San Francisco is a great place to shop and eat. However, the food court can be a little intimidating with the tight space between tables and the large crowd. That's why my wife and I opted for a sit-down lunch at Out the Door today. While we love the food and service of Slanted Door, Out the Door does not live up to the same standard of its elder sibling. For example, today we didn't … |

In April, she plans to open Sandbox Bakery in San Francisco's Bernal Heights (833 Cortland Ave.). Appropriate to the family-friendly neighborhood - and the fact that Takehara is expecting her … |

sippy cup
i've been trying to get my 13-month-old to use a sippy cup for months now, but to no avail. i've tried a couple different brands (bornfree and nuby) that have soft spouts, but he doesn't seem to "get it". i've tried straws and for couple days a while back, he actually started getting the water into his mouth, but then very quickly he discovered blowing bubbles and that was the end of drinking through a straw. our pediatrician suggested just … |

bedtime ritual
i'm planning to wean my 13.5-month-old in a week or so and i'm dreading it, not so much because of the weaning itself, but because i've been nursing him to sleep for naps and nighttime since he was born. i know--bad habit! it's just worked for us and now it's time to stop. :( so i'm curious what other moms' bedtime ritual is to get their little ones to calm down, relax, and get drowsy and ready for bed. thanks … |
